Way to go, Echo. But I wouldn't have one in my house because I assume it's listening 24/7 and it would be easy for John Law to listen, assuming he has the manpower to sit through days and weeks of drivel looking for anything arrestable. Also i wonder if Amazon sells the use of Echo audio input to advertisers. Oh well. No smart devices in my house anyway.

I love this Saturday Nigh Live video on Echo Silver. Please pardon me if The Beer Barrel is where i found it in the first place, but i'm old.

Take that as a given. The entire point is to commoditize YOU.

"Smart devices" are not serving the people who buy them, they are serving the sellers

I'm in the market for a new tv, but have been weary of "smart tv's".

Smart TV's are not an issue, PROVIDED THAT YOU DON'T CONNECT THEM TO THE INTERNET.

My Smart TV at home is just used as a display. It is never networked.

That whole 'internet of things' creeps me out. My wifi network surely is the gateway to hell. Ever hear of the pineapple?
My neighbors have an unsecured, LG smart refrigerator. If they ever piss me off I'll probably remotely turn it off. LOL

Damn straight, I keep warning acquaintances & colleagues about this .... and 99.9% of them just go along with it regardless. Mein haus is "dumb" and will stay that way.

    Nope vill chek it out.

Insanity..."smart" lightbulbs, fridges, coffee-makers... what's the fucking point except to turn each & every one of those things into a remote-controllable, hackable spying device.

In the fall I had someone come out to give me an estimate to rewire the property for music.
They then proceeded to try to sell me a home system that could be all activated from the touch of your smart phone.
I declined, the demo left me at unease.

Also in the fall I had my first experience with Google Home.
I'm not a fan of voice automation, never use it on my phone.

The movie "Why him?" just puts me into overload and makes me want to go off the grid.
