I don't generally care to see a man in shorts in public even if he has nice legs -- unless he's at the beach, working out, or participating in some sporting event. Might sound a bit old-fashioned, perhaps even prudish -- but just put on a pair of long pants day-to-day, for God's sake. It's simply more dignified, IMO.

This is basically a kwan thing isn't it? Anyway a Gentleman of my station would never wear such an abomination in public.

If it's not pants all year around, then I find Speedo's are great for lounging in, more so when it gets insanely hot here (humidity is a bitch).

Purely my own opinion but if you wear those three quarter length shorts/trousers, then you look like a mong.

To answer the question, I don't see much sense in 'em. I wear long chinos and Oxford cloth year round, even in the hottest weather. Keeping the sun off with light colours (how they dress in the desert) and breathable cotton works just fine.

Unless you want heat rash you kind of have to wear shorts here in Phoenix during the summer, I don't particularly like wearing shorts but it sure beats miliaria.

It literally depends upon what part of the world you reside in. If I lived where I was going to develop a heat rash due to wearing pants I'd care less what anyone thought of my periodically wearing shorts in public. No offense, but being dignified to satisfy anyone else as opposed to developing a nasty heat rash isn't something I'd be overly worried about.

Since I'm close to being a full blooded Mic my hide is very White, and I usually wear pants in public, or otherwise to keep from getting sunburned.'

Taking your voting options into consideration, I'm forced to go w/one & four.

I wear (I think they're called) cargo shorts? Military side pockets, higher than knee height. Good for working construction or on the farm. Made out of denim or something. I can carry a bag of beef jerky and a Gatorade or 4 cans of beer, depending on the time of day.
