    The shareholder(s) own and control the company. A company cannot choose to prioritize shareholders, workers or any other group, because the company is powerless.

    Shareholders that decide to support the workers in the company they control usually took the right decision, because happy workers will be more productive, the stock price of the company will rise, and its profit will pay them a well-earned dividend.
