Seeing as how the membership is 95% men, er...males, it should be a dog forum.
Cats are for farmers, old ladies in apartments and homosexuals.
Wonder how @Johnson dog managed the trip?
I believe his dog is around 13 years old?
Dog vote is secure. My cat has been in asshole mode for the past 2 weeks.
He's healthy, just being a jerk.
You're usually so chill on the forum why all the pent up domestic pet hostility?.
Texas Police Officer Dies After Cat Bite On Duty
Aug 9, 2017
A West Texas A&M University Police Department officer has passed away following complications from a feral cat bite while on duty.
The UPD said Corporal Monty D. Platt died last night at the University Medical Center in Lubbock. Platt was bitten by a feral cat while responding to a police call on campus two weeks ago.
According to police, last Thursday he was not feeling well and was taken to an urgent care center where he was later admitted to the ICU. Medication prescribed to him to prevent infection from the cat bit caused a severe reaction. The reaction was so severe he was transferred to the burn unit at the UMC in Lubbock. There, he was heavily sedated, placed on a ventilator and treated for the wounds.
News 10 reported that Tuesday evening, his kidneys shut down and his blood temperature dropped.
Platt was a 20 year veteran of the agency.
In a Facebook post, the UPD said, “Campus Law Enforcement lost a great officer in Corporal Monty D. Platt. All of us at the University Police Department extend our prayers to the family during this difficult time.”
Technically the cat never killed him, altho it may have been the catalyst for it. Jury is still out on whether or not cats are acceptable.
Cats are useful to chase off mice and rabbits from your garden but not for much else.
Dogs are even capable of solving complicated crime scenes, like for instance the murder of little Maggie McCann, where the dogs were so convincing of their guilt the killer parents of the McCanns didn't even dare to take a polygraph test.
Owning a cat can reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes by more than a third, researchers have found.
Scientists said that having a cat helped to relieve stress and anxiety, which is known to help protect against heart disease by lowering blood pressure and reducing the heart rate.
The study looked at 4,435 adults aged between 30 and 75, about half of whom owned a cat.
The findings, presented at a stroke conference in America, showed that 3.4 per cent of the cat owners died from a heart attack over 10 years. Among the group who had never owned a cat the rate was 5.8 per cent.
Cat owners still had a much reduced chance of developing strokes or heart attacks when researchers took account of other factors known to trigger heart disease, including high cholesterol levels, smoking and diabetes.
Prof Adnan Qureshi, from the Minnesota University, who carried out the study, said he was surprised by the strength of the effect that owning a cat appeared to have.
"The logical explanation may be that cat ownership relieves stress and anxiety and subsequently reduces the risk of heart disease."
He believes one reason could be that stroking the pet could cut the level of stress-related hormones in the blood. Reducing stress is known to help protect against heart disease by lowering blood pressure and reducing the heart rate.
But Prof Qureshi added that the type of person who owned a cat was usually already fairly stress-free and at low risk of heart disease.
Right. Of course this has nothing to do with Mohammad's love for cats or a raghead's natural dislike of dogs.
kitty uplifts my mood just from being so adorbs and lovable. i can definitely see them having anti-stress effect so long as u actually like kitties.
look how adorbs kitty is.
Fitz. No, just no.
Pigeon flew against my window and was obviously dying, so to grant him some hours of peace before his soul flew to pigeon heaven I had to chase the cat that selected me as its owner off a few times. Next day I buried the mortal remains of the pigeon and the cat was back, too forgiving, or more likely, too stupid to hold my hostile behavior the day before against me.
Fitz and Chris, why so sensitive about cats?
I have one and on any chosen day he can be a dirtbag.
His new "thing" is to climb into a random cupboard in the middle of the night and starts banging on the cupboard until I let him him out. He also thinks I still need to wake up at 5:30am and meows until I'm out of bed. Jerk.
Feral cats keep the birds and squirrels away from my San Marzano tomato plants (which I'm totally aware aren't real San Marzano tomatoes, as they don't grow in the volcanic soil of Mt. Vesuvius). So therefore cats are WHiTE as fuck.
