Guma L. Aguiar is a Brazilian-born energy industrialist and millionaire [1] businessperson who splits his time living between the United States and Israel. Guma Aguiar is recognized as a leading philanthropist who has supported a variety of Jewish causes including Nefesh B'Nefesh and the March of the Living. In July 2009, Aguiar invested over US$4 million in support of the Beitar Jerusalem Football Club.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A search is under way for a boater whose vessel came ashore on Fort Lauderdale beach in the early morning hours Wednesday.
Missing is Guma Aguiar, 35, of Fort Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale Police and the U.S. Coast Guard said.
Aguiar is a businessman who made a fortune in oil and gas interests. He is also a philanthropist who has contributed millions to Jewish and Israeli charities and in 2009, co-sponsored a soccer team there called Beitar Jerusalem.
Aguiar's 31-foot, center console Jupiter boat, the T.T. Zion, a tender for the yacht Zion, landed on the sand east of East Las Olas Boulevard around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, with its navigation lights on and engines still running, police said.
Good Samaritans reported the beaching of the boat, officials said.
The Coast Guard said it matched Aguiar's vessel to another report, that Aguiar took his boat out at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday and had not returned.

The fate of philanthropist Guma Aguiar is not known after his boat was found upside down in the water off of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The Brazilian-born energy industrialist and millionaire businessperson who splits his time living between the United States and Israel went out for a sail in his motorboat but the currents swept it out to sea.
It was found upside down with its motor running.
Lior Horev, a director of the Hapoel Yerushalayim soccer team and Aguiar's spokesman in Israel gave a statement Wednesday in which he said: "The owner of Hapoel Yerushalayim Guma Aguiar has been missing since nighttime… Aguiar apparently encountered stormy weather. When he failed to return his wife announced that he had gone missing and the Coast Guard began to search for him. The intensive search continues at this time."
Aguiar is known in Israel as a beneficent man who loves Israel and has helped Torah institutes and yeshivas.
