MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Rep. Michele Bachmann is now a citizen of Switzerland.
Politico reported Tuesday that she gained Swiss citizenship on March 19. Her husband, Marcus, registered with the Swiss government in March. Both his parents were born in Switzerland, and his citizenship means she automatically has access to citizenship.

When asked if she would consider running for political office in Switzerland, Bachmann jokingly said: “Really? Well, as you can see, there’s a lot of competition behind me that I would have to run against, and it would be very stiff, because they’re very good.” The family’s three youngest children are also Swiss citizens, the report said. Bachmann’s spokesperson, Becky Rogness, is reported saying that the family applied for Swiss citizenship because some of the children wanted to use the dual-citizenship available to them. In other words: they did it for the kids.

Maybe she's realizing that the balance of power is swinging away from The West & The Middle East. And that the future belongs to the Asian and Nordic Powers.

Many Canadians have dual US-Canadian citizenship, it was not uncommon in Windsor, often they would work over in Detroit.

Indians automatically have dual US-Canadian citizenship.

And yes, Michele Bachmann is #1 in my books. :agree:

Bachmann Statement on Withdrawal of Dual Swiss Citizenship

Washington, May 10 - "I want to make it perfectly clear: I am a proud American citizen"
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) issued the following statement today about her decision to withdraw her dual Swiss citizenship:
"Today I sent a letter to the Swiss Consulate requesting withdrawal of my dual Swiss citizenship, which was conferred upon me by operation of Swiss law when I married my husband in 1978. I took this action because I want to make it perfectly clear: I was born in America and I am a proud American citizen. I am, and always have been, 100 percent committed to our United States Constitution and the United States of America. As the daughter of an Air Force veteran, stepdaughter of an Army veteran and sister of a Navy veteran, I am proud of my allegiance to the greatest nation the world has ever known."

Under Swiss law, Bachmann automatically received dual Swiss citizenship when she married her husband, a dual American and Swiss citizen, in 1978.
